Duo Los Suplentes

The duo Los Suplentes, formed by Emiliano Faryna and Hugo Satorre, began their musical journey in 2017 with a milonguero style that features their own arrangements. Their aim is to recreate the distinctive sound of the tango orchestras of the 1940s, adapting it to the duo format of bandoneon and guitar.

The essence of the duo lies in their arrangements, developed and memorised by ear rather than written down in sheet music, bringing freshness and spontaneity to every performance. When the space allows, they play in the centre of the dance floor, inviting the audience to dance around them. With every performance, Los Suplentes turn the milonga into an intimate celebration, winning over tango dancers from the very first beat.

They have made their mark on some of the most renowned milongas in Buenos Aires and have taken their music to more than ten European countries, performing over 250 concerts and completing five successful international tours.

In 2021, they released two albums, ¡A la Pista!!! and Nuevas Composiciones, available both physically and on digital platforms. In 2024, they presented their latest work, Otra Vuelta.

With an extensive track record and accolades including a Latin Grammy nomination and the Carlos Gardel Award, Emiliano and Hugo continue to tour the world with their Argentine music, bringing tango to dance floors everywhere.

As they do every year, in 2027 they will once again be touring milongas around the world.

Musical Phrasing and Rhythmic varations

Let´s discover the layers, textures and different colors that are hidden inside tango music.This workshop will consider the phrase structure of tango music and how to naturally express this in our dance. It will also delve into the most common rhythmic variations in tango music with examples from different orquestras and figures to express each one. It is a hands-on class – you will be dancing solo and/or with a partner.
